SRS Internet Safety & Spam Management
As we enter into 2023, we understand that there is almost no limit to what you can do online, which opens up enormous opportunity for improved efficiencies, processes and eliminating room for error. However, as we have learnt, what also comes with great opportunity is great risk, and leveraging technology to its full extent does open you to certain risks, such as spam, and phishing.
Over the past 6 months we have been challenged with firewall and security issues, (please be assured that this applies to our email server only and no participant information has been breached) which has resulted in emails being blocked, bouncing back and being lost in transition to and from our server.
Our internal and external IT team has assured us that we are hopefully on the right pathway around this and we should no longer encounter any issues.
As always, we want to ensure that we all stay safe online and recommend asking yourself these questions when receiving emails to assist with identifying phishing emails and spam.
- Double check the email address – is it an official email e.g. bob@srsinc.com.au
- Is the email personalised and does it address you by name?
- Are you expecting the email? Is there enough context for why you are receiving the email?
- Incorrect spelling and grammar
- Hyperlinks to non-existent websites
Below is a visual guide to our recommendation on how to identify spam.
