SRS invites community feedback at August Disability Advocacy Group Meeting

Residents living with disability are invited to attend Sunraysia Residential Services Inc.’s next Disability Advocacy Group Meeting on Friday 21 August 2026, providing an opportunity to share experiences and offer feedback on disability supports.

The event will bring together NDIS participants, community representatives and local stakeholders to discuss current challenges, opportunities for improvement and upcoming changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and their potential impact.

Guest speakers will include representatives from Mildura Rural City Council’s Social Inclusion Action Group, Council’s Social Inclusion team.

All NDIS participants are encouraged to attend and contribute to the conversation, which will be held at 1028 Benetook Avenue (next to SRS Benetook Farm) from 11am to 1pm.

Cost is $10 per person, which will cover the cost of lunch for all participants.

SRS Services Manager Bethany Simpson encouraged those interested to attend the day.

“This is our third Disability Advocacy Group Meeting for 2026, with these meetings always a great chance to share feedback on current SRS services and programs, while providing participants with a voice to enact change,” she said.

“Previous meetings this year have generated some wonderful ideas, while setting advocacy priorities, including SRS’ recent petition to improve pedestrian safety in Fifteenth Street between Walnut and Deakin avenues.”

Ms Simpson said the event would also feature presentations from Council’s Social Inclusion team, who will discuss the recently adopted Disability Action Plan, and Council’s new Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) – a community‑led decision‑making group focused on strengthening wellbeing, inclusion and connection across the Mildura region.

“We’re really excited to hear from both these groups and hear more about some of the initiatives they are aiming to deliver for our community,” she said.

“SIAG members will have the chance to gather feedback from participants as part of their presentation, complementing some of the work the Advocacy Group has been doing over the past year.”
