Sunraysia Residential Services Inc. is proud to announce the official opening of our new pickleball court at Benetook Farm, creating an exciting and inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities to come together, get active and connect.
Made possible through a $15,000 grant from the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme, the project reflects a strong commitment to promoting active lifestyles, social engagement and community inclusion across the region.
The new court is expected to deliver significant benefits for both the local community and visitors, including increased opportunities for physical activity, improved health and wellbeing and enhanced social connection.
“This new pickleball court is more than just a place to play, it’s a space where people can come together, build friendships and enjoy a fun, accessible sport,” SRS CEO Marian Luehman said.
“We are proud to offer a facility that is inclusive, welcoming and supports the wellbeing of our community, while also thanking the Federal Government for their contribution to the project.”
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports globally, known for its accessibility and suitability for players of all ages and abilities, including seniors and people with disabilities.
The new court aims to provide a welcoming environment for inclusive, intergenerational recreation, a safe and structured space for young people to engage in healthy activity and opportunities for social interaction, community events and friendly competition.
“Our participants at the Farm have already embraced the new court with enthusiasm, and it’s fast becoming a hit as part of their daily routine,” Marian said.
“I’m really excited to see the broader community embrace the new court, adding to what is already an incredible experience at Benetook Farm for visitors.”
Member for Mallee, Dr Anne Webster, congratulated SRS on the court’s completion.
“Not-for-profit organisations in Mildura do a power of work in our community caring for those who need support, with SRS contributing so much to so many,” Dr Webster said.
“The $15,000 grant from Stronger Communities program is well deserved and the pickleball court will bring much joy and laughter to many. Well done to Marian and her team.”
The new pickleball court joins a wide range of activities already available at Benetook Farm, including an accessible all-abilities playground, jumping pillow, mini-golf, pedal car and bike rides, the Lions Club Magic Maze, a vintage Melbourne tram, seasonal strawberry picking and an on-site café and general store.
The community is invited to visit Benetook Farm, give pickleball a go, and experience everything it has to offer.
