SRS launches community campaign to help furnish essential housing accommodation.

Sunraysia Residential Services (SRS) has launched a campaign that will run for the duration of July, to help fit out eight essential housing units for local aged care and disability community members in urgent need of a safe, independent place to live.

These units are part of SRS’s commitment to providing secure, supportive housing solutions that meet the rising demand in our region.

SRS is calling on local suppliers, trades, businesses and community members to donate new or good quality surplus items, to help transform these units into comfortable, welcoming homes. This could include building materials, white goods, furniture and landscaping supplies.

“This is about our community helping our community,” said Marian Luehman, CEO at SRS. “We all at some point have made a purchase that’s just not right or arrived too late and now its taking up space in a shed.  Now is the time to repurpose towards a project that will go on giving over and over again.  Every donation, large or small will helps us support those doing it tough.”

SRS is encouraging donations such as:

  • Goods: Furniture, appliances, bathroom/kitchen fittings, flooring, lighting, landscaping materials
  • Services: Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, garden clean-ups
  • Discounts or vouchers from your business
  • End-of-line, returned, or slightly damaged stock
  • Leftover or unused items from renovations — big or small!
  • Discounted services or trade hours

Donations will be accepted throughout July. SRS can arrange collection or provide drop off details on request.  Being your local not for profit organisation, all your generous donations are tax deductable gifts.  Get in before 30th June if you would like to make a claim in this current financial year.

“These donations are more than items,” said Marian, “they’re about stability, safety and dignity for our most vulnerable”
